July 18, 2018, Elmira NY:  The Elmira Button Club were gracious hosts for the annual Western NY button club picnic.  About 35 members and guests came out to the Tanglewood Nature Center and Museum in Elmira for the picnic.

The theme was “All Creatures Great and Small” and carried out in such adorable ways; food items made to look like animals, animal crackers and candy, animal salt and pepper shakers, and a favor with animal buttons + much more.  A couple of members took the opportunity to set-up a table to sell buttons, other members brought competition cards depicting animals.  All attendees had the opportunity to vote for their favorite card.

In between socializing, eating lunch, shopping, reviewing the cards and voting, we also had the opportunity to visit the museum.  Pat Silvernail, President of the Elmira Button Club, made a brief presentation relating to animal buttons and the song “All Creatures Great and Small.” After the presentation, attendees were encouraged to check out the exhibit of various types of animal buttons on display cards.  The final part of the presentation was awards for the competition.

Listening to the program and eating lunch and shopping.
