May 2-4, 2025 – Button collectors, crafters, quilters, sewists, and the curious descended on the DoubleTree Inn in Binghamton, NY, for the annual New York State Button Show and Awards. The theme of this year’s show was “Over the Moon for Buttons”. It was a fun and educational event and an opportunity to see old friends and make new ones.

This year, we had button dealers selling buttons from the 17th century through the modern day, a studio button artist selling her original designs, and another selling button-related framed art and jewelry. There were displays from the NYSBS archives, a beginner’s workshop, and an enormous table full of raffle baskets.

Our show comprises many parts with many volunteers to pull it off. Some of the most important to collectors are judging competition trays, shopping for new buttons, and having the opportunity to chat with experts about buttons. This requires experts and dealers.  We couldn’t have a show without them.  Thanks to the many volunteers who shared their expertise in the judging room judging the competition trays. Thanks to our dealers for making the shopping fun: Jennifer Chehovich – NY, Nancy Boyer – PA, Sharon Braund – NY, Nance Darrow – Ohio, Kathy Doody – NY, Holly Mead – NY, Millicent Safro/Tender Buttons – NY, Kathy Schaller – NY, Bea Taran – PA, Joan Tyl – PA, Sharon Zaychek – PA.

Just before the show opened, show Chairperson Jennifer Read and Treasurer Cathy Parke were invited into the News Channel 12 WBNG studio for an interview about button collecting and the show. It was a super exciting way to kick off the show.

Check out the photos detail each day of the show.  Enjoy!
